Tall, Nine Entries Written Above the Line.

Nine entries stand between 172 and 178 centimetres, the index's longest column, and every one of them has learned exactly what to do with an entrance. This is the page guests read when the evening has an audience: a doorway worth walking through slowly, a dining room where presence is part of the dress code.

It is also the index's most varied page. The column holds the roster's most formal companion and its funniest, its most direct and one of its gentlest, which is why the entries below sort by presence rather than by centimetre.

Presence, formal.

Violetta, thirty, heads the column at 178, sleek black hair and a reserve that turns out to be comic timing in waiting. Karolina and Samanta, both twenty seven and 174, are the roster's twin answers to a formal invitation, one fluent in opera houses and architecture, the other in violin, languages and the exact acoustics of a good lobby.

Any of the three can walk into a black tie room and read as though she was on the original guest list, which for practical purposes she now is.

Presence, vivid.

Stacy, twenty two, spends her 176 centimetres on comedy timing and street photography from De Pijp, the tallest laugh in most rooms. Milena, twenty five and 175, is the Jordaan's editorial gloss with a straight answer underneath, an entrance the bar will discuss after you have both left it.

Michelle and Vanessa, both 173, soften the column, one a chatty, nurturing Centrum host, the other De Pijp's gentlest multilingual listener. Angelika and Patricia, both 172, close it, an athletic jazz enthusiast in Centrum and a romantic watercolourist in the Jordaan.

Height, on this half of the page, is simply the frame around very easy company.

Section 05

Built for the itinerary.

Presence travels well. For a trip with a sealed itinerary, a companion who can hold an unfamiliar lobby matters more than anywhere else, and this column supplies most of the roster's travel requests. The same logic covers receptions in the Zuidas and dinners where the table is mostly strangers.

Whatever the destination, the format is agreed in the thread first, settled name by name, on request, confirmed on WhatsApp before anything is booked.

One practical courtesy: if the evening involves long standing, a reception, an opening, a floor without chairs, say so when you write. Heels are planned like everything else here, and a companion at ease for the fourth hour is the difference between an escort and an ally.
